Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central Library, UAS Raichur

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central Library (University Library) started its functions independently in the year 2009, university library covered total built up area including ground and first floor (Plinth Area) is 3050.00 Sq. Mt. the Information Management Centre and a repository of printed and electronic resources for the academic community of the university and it’s plays a crucial role in supporting the teaching, research and extension activities of the university. Apart from textbooks and recommended reading materials prescribed for each courses offered at the university, Dr. B R Ambedkar Central library houses a latest collection of research monographs, reports, multi-volume reference works, dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks etc. on agricultural and allied sciences. The university library facilitates access of more than 4500 electronic journals through its participation in ICAR-New Delhi consortia as CeRA (Consortium for E-resources in Agriculture). At present, the users can consult more than 85259 books, 9594 bound volumes of national and international journals, 4589 thesis and dissertations, 471 annual reports of agricultural and allied sciences, 450 annual reports of agricultural universities and other institutions (Available on shelves).

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central library is using KOHA Library Management System integrated with RFID technology for ensuring perfect security for control of Dr. B R Ambedkar Central library activities and the provision has been made of OPAC and remote access of library resources and services the myloft software have been implemented. The online access is also provided to IDEAL-Indian Digital Ensemble of Agricultural Libraries-AgriCat, Krishikosha-institutional repositories. A separate e-resource section as “Centre for Information Common Learning” and the Manthana: Virtual Learning Resource Centre a seminar hall provides a state of art facility of internet surfing, access of science direct e-books, CRC Net Base e-books, NIPAERS e-books, Astral e-books, DigiKosh e-books, ASAP Glob e-books Arts and Science e-books and Biogreen e-books. The complete package of (FAD-28) Indian Standards, Indiastat-statistical database, CAB-direct and other e-resources. These extended facilities of the library have greatly enhanced the usage of information resources and services to the teachers, researchers, scientists and students for their teaching, research and extension activities.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central Library is constantly striving to identify, evaluate, procure process and then make its available of the information resources and services and also the emerging ICT tools and Techniques to support the academic, research and extension activities and helping the institute in achieving its vision and mission.

Digital Library/Internet Lab

University Library has been modernized by establishing the new internet center namely“Centre for Information Common Learning” for internet Surfing, On-line catalogue, e-books, e-journals and other e-resources like science direct e-books & e-journals access, CRC Net base e-Books from Taylor & Francis Group, Indiastat-statistical database, Ebsco e-journals database, indianjournals.com and CAB Abstracts and full text e-books and e-journals through CeRA platform under NAIP from ICAR New Delhi.

The latest ICT tools and techniques with Wi-Fi facility are available in the University Library. The e-resources are unique and are of high quality in nature and content. The mandatory housekeeping activities of the library have been automatized by using “e-lib” software. Barcode technology has been implemented in circulation processes by bar-coding library documents, and computerized library membership ID Cards have been issued. The auto-movement register is used in the circulation counter to prepare visitors' statistical reports for the University Library. These extended facilities, funded by SAU grants, have attracted more students, teachers, and researchers to fulfill their academic and research requirements.

    Library has a wide range of reference collections, including subject as well as general encyclopedias, competitive examination collections, dictionaries, theses, dissertations, handbooks, reports, atlases, maps, and subject glossaries.

  • New Arrivals

    New Arrivals are displayed at the entrance of the reading hall.

  • Newspaper Clippings
    • Library maintains newspaper clippings pertaining to Agriculture and allied subjects from international, national, and regional news items.

    • Newspaper clippings related to UASR.

  • Orientation

    Library Orientation Programme is conducted every year at the time of admission.

  • Submission of Thesis

    As part of completing PG and Ph.D. degree programs, students need to submit their theses in both hard copy and soft copy (CD/DVD) formats. Students must adhere to the guidelines fixed for thesis submission. Delays caused by non-fulfillment of guidelines are the responsibility of the students.

  • Notification & Advertisements

    Library maintains a notification and advertisement file for the benefit of readers. It can also be viewed on the UASR website under E-Governance.
